My younger brother brought his son down from Alaska to visit a few years ago. My brother had been all over the world in the Navy but his son had never left Alaska. They came down to Ohio just after his son's graduation. As he was getting ready to come down, he gave me his itinerary. He had an 8 hour layover in Omaha. I commented that must have saved in a bunch of money. He said no, flying through Omaha was costing them an extra $1,000 but it was the only way he could avoid flying through Chicago . Chicago, you see was a hell hole of certain death. That's what 30 years of watching Fox News had given him. I explained that for the previous 5 years recently I'd gone to Chicago once or twice a month to visit customers at kmart/ Sears headquarters. I would drive into Indianapolis and catch an Amtrak into downtown Chicago. I would take a bus from there out to the Sears campus. It was a great trip and I always looked forward to it. The seats on the train were big and comfortable and the Wi-Fi always worked. I could even get a drink if needed. One of the most civilized things I'd ever done. Very practical and European. My brother was terrified and would rather spend eight hours stuck in the Omaha airport than " risk his life"

One of the parents in a 4-H group one of my kids was in worked at Sears. She just got a promotion and had to go to the home office for a week of training. Well, they watched a lot of Fox News in her house and she and her husband were terrified of her making the trip. Sears was flying her in, ( kinda stupid- it's a 6-hour drive) and she was all upset because she couldn't carry a gun on the plane. Her husband drove up to meet her so he could make sure she had a gun for her protection. He met her at Hoffman Estates, the Sears Headquarters in the parking lot. Security saw them and arrested them when they were making the handoff. The husband spent the night in jail and the wife was sent home that day. The whole thing I imagine cost them thousands of dollars and lost them a pretty good job. Because of Fox News.

Evidently their congregation at Church prayed for her safety on the Sunday before she left. I guess it worked. Nobody killed her.
