Guy looks like he stepped off the set of Boogie Nights.

ohsopolite's avatar

Lost his porn 'stache in a tragic shaving accident though...

Manqueman's avatar

I guess the chaser here is (as ever) this is what we chose to be led by.

Meanwhile, than Republican Jesus® it's Monday which means being chill which means not obsessing over the Republican death cult shit amongst the locals in Texas Abbott on down.

Worriedman's avatar

THANX FOR THE WALLET BITCH !

Thought for years I needed a motto. Like English royalty or a fried chicken joint.

I think I finally found one.

Funny stuff Roy! Imagine if it's clown was actually in charge of FEMA.

Claire März's avatar

On your tombstone? Klassy.

Worriedman's avatar

That would be amazing! I would do that except my family would change it after I was gone.

Bern's avatar

There ain't no 'countin' fer fammly!

Worriedman's avatar

I read that as “ courtin’ yer fammly” and I thought - that's just wrong.

SteveB's avatar

Some careful filling-in of letters gets you to "HAN OR HE ALL IT" and then they could pass you off as a Star Wars nerd.

billcinsd's avatar

I yam what I yam, and that's all I yam!

SteveB's avatar

No need to get all starchy about it.

Bern's avatar

ONE OOF BEYOOOONNNNND!

SundayStyle's avatar

Tag yourself: I'm the guy in the white shirt on the right (to Richardson's left) side-eyeing him as if my very life depended on it, lol. Never was a cartoon thought bubble saying "What the fuck?" more appropriate.

Bern's avatar

Fair, tho that presumes you live and work in Texas, which, I dunno...

Me, I'd slot into the role of the wizzened old dude on the left in the slightly cool black FEMA jacket, with the ball cap covering what's left of the hair, and the def cool wire-rim glasses, successfully-to-date managing (barely) not to smirk at the smell of the fat slob to my left cosplaying 'good-ol-boy runnin' the show'...

Pere Ubu's avatar

I'm the guy 'way in the back just in front of the Texas flag, busy on my computer, oh, so busy, too busy to pay any attention to the shitshow just meters away.

billcinsd's avatar

I'm the guy who's not there because I would not work for a Repub administration. Plus I am retired

Worriedman's avatar

I'm the guy that's out back smoking a joint wondering if I was going to need to switch to heroin before this was all over.

SteveB's avatar

I'm Lloyd Bridges, saying "This was the wrong week to give up Oxycontin."

I dunno, not sure I'm buying it, feels too organized and professional for the Trump Admin Part the Duh. Will Natural Disaster Clusterfuck Number #1 move the needle? Who knows. They sure got out there quick on the socials with "the libs are all laughing at the dead Christian girls." It felt...coordinated. Unlike every other aspect of the flood response.

SundayStyle's avatar

I don't think a disaster will, as clearly DEI and antisemitism were responsible for the floods. But the MAGA grapevine, which needs a new conspiracy theory as regularly as 7th Avenue needs new fashion, seems to be pretty pissed off about the missing Epstein Files. Absolutely hilarious if that's what turns the tide.

Claire März's avatar

IKR? MAGA discovers what the rest of us have known for years -- Tubby is a creep. What did they think Trump Model Management was about?

Rugosa's avatar

The Epstein file will provide a conspiratorial boost anytime the rubes get too quiet. Sort of the way plaid comes back into style whenever the fashion mavens get bored. Just think of the twists and turns. We know Team Trump is lying but which lie are they telling - is the file even real? If it is real, Bondi hiding it so we'll never know for sure if Trump is on it? How much are they collecting in blackmail for not revealing it? You wouldn't want the blackmailees to find out it's phony.

SteveB's avatar

"clearly DEI and antisemitism were responsible for the floods"

Oh, I see what you're doin' there, coverin' up that gummint weather-control program.

Whipstitch's avatar

Antisemitism, or Jewish space lasers. Maybe both!

Pere Ubu's avatar

I heard the Epstein Files now really DO exist, but because Hillary and Obama and those people wrote them to try to attack poor oppressed Trump.

We're way beyond "When Prophecy Fails" territory, here; we're into "prophecy fails and they deny there even WAS a prophecy" and "there's a prophecy but Satan wrote it".

SteveB's avatar

You have to admit there's some entertainment value to it.

SteveB's avatar

I'd like to borrow a Horseshoe Leftist for about 15 minutes just so I could hear him sputter and rage about Trump's "betrayal" on Ukraine. Calm down, buddy, there's a flop that comes right after that flip.

Bern's avatar

Unleash the Kraken now refers to the Hot-Thumbed Texters League. There is no other response necessary.

DrBDH's avatar

Heck of a job, Richey!

Derelict's avatar

Bush's pick for FEMA director was epically, historically bad. I never thought it would be possible for any subsequent FEMA head to surpass (underpass?) that lowest of low bars.

Yet, here we are. Richardson is making ol' Brownie look like the very apex of smooth professionalism.

SteveB's avatar

Look, if a lawyer for a horse-jumpin' association doesn't prepare you for Director of FEMA, next you're gonna tell me a parking-garage lawyer ain't qualified for [checks notes] acting U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey.

redoubtagain's avatar

At least Brownie showed up when asked. This one was "supervising" the results of the latest Geheime Staatspolizei meth bust.

Bern's avatar

2 marks, Doc.

RWAlex's avatar

That most of the Shitler2 Administration is on some kind of illicit drugZ, and high on their own supply, seems an existential certainty.

T Homan (a fine example of the ho man race) was clearly drunk with power when he made the "we don't need no steenking Probable Cause to arrest any darker persons " remark...

(Ok he may have been alcohol drunk too.)

redoubtagain's avatar

He looks like the north end of a southbound cow. And a cow would be about as useful right now.

Bern's avatar

Milking it for all it is worth...

Ellis Weiner's avatar

Oh please. That's udderly ridiculous.

Pere Ubu's avatar

Well, according to Roy's account, Richardson DID spend a week horny...

rfc's avatar

I have a FB friend, an ardent, good-hearted evangelical, who lives in Texas. When she posted a lament about the drowned children, I commiserated but added that it was only the beginning of the losses of life we will see because of this administration; whereupon I was roundly excoriated for "politicizing" the post. Her follow-up to mourning the children was to post a heartwarming picture of happy, romping girls wearing Camp Mystic T-shirts running into a beaming Jesus' arms. That's the very image of heaven I had when I was a grieving, fatherless child — only I grew up. I wonder if the childrens' parents are comforted.

Roy Edroso's avatar

Texas and FEMA did 'em a favor, see -- sent 'em to Jesus before they could grow up in a fallen world.

Claire März's avatar

How come that doesn't work for fetuses? Fetii?

Ellis Weiner's avatar

Something something fetuses don't fail me now.

Bern's avatar

Yeah, ok...2 marks.

billcinsd's avatar

Foetii don't get souls until they are born

Cheez Whiz's avatar

Ixnay on the oulsay. We call the little petri samples "potential humans" now.

Given that according to the Christianists everything that happens is in accordance with God’s plan. it seems to me that any measures that might have been taken to avert some of these deaths—say, accepting tainted funds from the last administration and implementing the alert measures and other emergency infrastructure entailed thereby—well, when you think about it, this would have amounted to 𝘵𝘩𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘎𝘰𝘥’𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭, amirite?

SteveB's avatar

"everything that happens is in accordance with God’s plan"

Unless a Democrat is President.

billcinsd's avatar

That's the leeway God gives the Devil

Tehanu's avatar

You mean the parents who asked that "evil question" the Orange Toad refused to answer?

SteveB's avatar

Wait, normal non-sycophants got within question-asking distance of Tubby? Heads will roll over this.

SteveB's avatar

"Her follow-up to mourning the children was to post a heartwarming picture of happy, romping girls..."

Some of us move through the stages of grief faster than others. This lady is on the Denial to Acceptance Express.

Pere Ubu's avatar

"Politics" is when right-wingers are annoyed.

A comparatively minor example: the assumed reality of old D&D has a lot of assumptions such as slavery, inherently evil races, accumulation of wealth, clear-cut binary gender, and suchlike, all of which have "political" assumptions behind them that never actually get discussed, but placing a spot on the character sheet for pronouns is "politicizing our game" and an offense beyond belief.

Databoy's avatar

I'm FEMA. Hear me roar.

Bern's avatar

I'm just impressed by the relative professionalism of ICE's Goon 1 and Goon 2. Drifters and day laborers stand to make a good move up, ya know?

Databoy's avatar

To MAGA Qings and Kweens, we are all just day laborers, whether caged or not!

Tehanu's avatar

"... also loses his towel."

Damn, Roy, I was drinking coffee! Not fair at this ungodly hour!

R.Porrofatto's avatar

Hilarious. Sad, but amusing. Tragic but also hysterical. Distressing but very fun... Anyway, a microcosm of our daily debasement.

We should remember that the previous Trump appointee was fired because he had said that "Communities look to FEMA in their greatest times of need and it’s imperative that we remain ready to respond to those challenges." Richardson is the guy who said that he didn't know that the U.S. has a hurricane season each year, a level of ignorance suitable for this clown trailer. Easy to see which one eventually got the job.

proportionwheel's avatar

So my first morning coffee reads are REBID and whatever LGM is up to (today it’s Bill Ackman cosplaying as an actual tennis pro) and I’m starting to wonder if the thing that finally defeats these assholes is that they become so ridiculous that some sort of mass cognitive dam breaks and everyone starts pointing and laughing.

SteveB's avatar

"the thing that finally defeats these assholes is that they become so ridiculous that..." an additional 2% of voters start pointing and laughing. FTFY

Pere Ubu's avatar

Same, except my coffee is with REBID and Wonkette and recently Jeff Tiedrich because I need that spice of humor and snark to my news to keep from being angry the rest of the day.

SteveB's avatar

If Big-Ass Flag isn't the answer to all your problems, then Texas is all outta ideas.

Ellis Weiner's avatar

This is cherce. I had to think what "big ol' winder" meant but I got it! Well done, sir.

SteveB's avatar

I'm slow, it took me a bit to get "Can't FEMA face" but when I did the wait was worth it.

Blueb4sunrise's avatar

I was wondering what "coke residue " is. I reckon it's possible , but not in my experience
