We have the plague so we celebrate every day

From the panic hoarding to the Trump malfeasance to the slow grim advance of the bugs themselves, COVID-19 has been such a fascinating artifact of what tyros like me have come to call Late Capitalism — and there are many worthwhile accounts as to why, the best of which I suppose is Pareene’s — that I’ve hardly had headspace to actually be afraid of it.
