We think of the internet as a fast-paced, up-to-the-minute thing, especially when the news is as big as it’s been lately. But many of stories I’m seeing in the world of Hardcore — our term of art for ragebait emails sent to your senile relatives to lure them to rightwing garbage sites — seem to have been filed before the election.
For example, I got a message on Sunday, five days after the catastrophe, from Five Nation (don’t ask me, I assume it’s some domestic neo-Nazi thing) that said “Trump Leads in Key Swing States.” In fact that whole website seems late to the party, with stories like “Harris Campaign Adviser Sparks Controversy with Gas Stove Ban Links” and “Kamala Harris Under Fire for Handling of Inflation Question,” etc.
Trumps may come and Trumps may go, but the prime directive of Hardcore remains Grift Long and Phumpher.
