I don’t know about today’s Fun Friday bit. I think it should appeal, but really this is one of those cases where I’m not sure me and the rest of the world are on the same wavelength.
The proposition is this: Tell me about something you saw in your younger days that you told people about later, expecting they too would have seen or at least heard of it, and it turned out they had no idea what you were talking about.
I’m not looking for abuse narratives, which such things may strangely resemble, but mainly for location-specific arcana like skelly. People often think the kid-show stars of their own childhood, for example, are universally known, but then they grow up and learn Tommy Seven the Famous TV Clown or whoever was indeed famous in one metro area but nowhere else on earth, and no one outside their hometown ever heard of them.
Which brings me to the Banana Man.
