TBH, at the beginning, I found this triggering -- bummed out over the decline of higher education not because of wokeness but neoliberalism and the need of too many schools to put profits first.
But I must say that the Maestro here pulled it off.👏🏻

That's a seven dollar word!
Every generation of conservatives is worse than the previous one.
Jonah Goldberg seems charming compared to Rufo. We can't be too far from the Moorlock iteration-
Nice column! As you were describing Rufo's attire I was thinking about how satisfying an " Oops! I spilled my coffee Sorry!" Moment could be. Then I thought fuck it - just throw it in his face.
"Sailor Circus Academy students ages 8-18 learn to develop life management skills, gain self-discipline, bolster confidence and a commitment to achievement, all in a circus atmosphere.
Through rigorous interdisciplinary performing arts and psychomotor skills programs, students learn circus arts in a safe and nurturing atmosphere. Sailor Circus Academy students are recognized as future leaders and major contributors to the circus legacy in Sarasota."
I'd say that Sarasota's circus legacy is well established. Class dismissive.
What's for dinner at the Leopards restaurant? Same as every night!
In other news, I just read a headline in the Chronicle of Higher Ed, saying that the University of Idaho killer is a Criminology major... you mean to tell me that a cop-in-training would be a violent little incel who can't take rejection? <cue surprised Pikachu face>
Next you'll be telling me a business major has a poorly-spelled startup loan proposal on his phone, or a screenwriting major has a script for a one-act play about his most recent "crazy" ex-gf?
Sorry, I know I should have read the syllabus before coming to class, but if you study geology to become a geologist, you don't study criminology to become a criminal? Please don't tell me all aspiring criminals have to go to law school, I thought that was just for the ones who want to commit constitutional-level crimes.
Whenever I am polled re: am I concerned about crime I answer with an emphatic "YES!" and wait for them to ask me which crimes I am most concerned about (which never happens, but if it did I'd direct them to Wall Street and K Street.)
OK, OK, none of the above ever happens, but if/when it does I'll be prepared.
Now I have an image in my head of a Gary Larsen-style cartoon: the Leopard family is sitting down to dinner. The young Leopards poke at their meals and grumble "People's faces AGAIN?"

I didn't remember Day of the Locust, so off to Wikipedia, where I find that the character who is the victim of the mob is named Homer Simpson. History doesn't repeat, but it does rhyme.
Shirley Jackson right? I remember being in a performance eons ago when I was in junior high. Scared the hell out of us. Our teacher would now be too woke. But, then, he also took us to the opera--Turandot. Ping, Pang, Pong, Puccini. Yup, too woke.
I'm not sure which is more horrifying, Roy's fictional version or the linked article from the Herald-Tribune, which has the College President saying "I, for one, welcome our new anti-woke overlords" or words to that effect.
"On Twitter, Rufo said he wants to eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion policies, develop "a new core curriculum" and restructure the administration and academic departments. He is known for his activism on transgender and racial issues"
That "activism" is doing some obfuscatory lifting right there...where's that "anti, anti, anti" when we need it?
He used to be a commenter on Lawyers Guns & Money, I think -- or maybe here too. I know I've got him on my Great Internet Monikers list, along with Bilbo Hussein Baggins, Honoré De Ballsack, HTML Mencken, Jean-Luc Petard, OB-GYN Kenobi, and Witchloser Specific.
Irony of this Prelude To A Lynching is that thanks to DeSantis and Rufo no one can actually call it what it really is, or learn any lesson from it other than "The Rope Is Good! The Book Is Evil!"
Are they that ready to dispose of their tools, so soon? Nobody thinks its the Night of the Long Knives, until all of a sudden, time is up, knives are out...
Weiss' only hope was that she would be ineffective, since she was working for those who would tear her apart in a moment should they triumph past the point where she was useful...
Yes, due to an excess of youthful enthusiasm, certain mistakes were made, and the operative in question will not be easily replaced, the search may even last into next week.

Yikes. Very dark. I guess it’s easier to Nazi-fy an existing institution of higher learning than to *build* a University of Austin from the ground up.
Choose your meme: fuck around --> find out, or the ever-popular leopards --> faces.

"Jonah Goldberg seems charming" sorry you lost me there.
Six-forty-five, in today's dollars...
Ha, you'd be lucky to get a good, old-fashioned seven-dollar word for less than 8 bucks these days, thanks a lot, Biden!

Soaking wet!
Every generation of conservatives is worse than the previous one.
That's why they want to go back to the Golden Age
They do not care about the age – they only care about the gold.
Huh, I thought Sailor Circus Academy was the only clown college in Sarasota.

They put on a great show a couple of times a year, too.
Well, they'd better bring their A game, because the new Congress is raising expectations, circus-wise.
"The clowns are coming from inside the House!"
"I think we're gonna need a bigger clown car"
Has already been requisitioned...
Especially because some of the clowns don't play well together. Be sure to place Mike Rogers and Matt Gaetz at opposite ends.
hey one of the clowns has already put in articles of impeachment for the DHS Secretary

I do love a story with a happy ending.
Not so happy for graduating seniors who will soon find their job opportunities narrowed to right-wing think tanks or staffer for Lauren Boebert.
I dunno. Seems to me that there's infinite room to expand the thinking in those tanks, given how much there actually is in them now.
They're called Think Tanks because thinking goes into them, but it never comes out.
Definitely a “Day of the Locust” ending, and well-deserved. Thanks, Roy!
I didn't remember Day of the Locust, so off to Wikipedia, where I find that the character who is the victim of the mob is named Homer Simpson. History doesn't repeat, but it does rhyme.
Doh!
I was thinking of The Lottery.

Right. I saw a production at my high school, with kids I knew, and was freaked out and disturbed by the ending.
I'm not sure which is more horrifying, Roy's fictional version or the linked article from the Herald-Tribune, which has the College President saying "I, for one, welcome our new anti-woke overlords" or words to that effect.
OTOH, the kids are all right:

Well if the students are already reactionary, seems like job done.
Well, THAT escalated quickly...not sure that escalator is going up or down tho.
Barely Treiss has it coming to her, at a high rate of speed.
I endorse nazis adopting the scapular – makes 'em easy to ID.
I know it makes me a bad person, but: OhpleaseOhpleaseOhplease let life imitate art. Just a little bit, this once anyway.
What happens to Bari?
Johnny, ever see the movie "Suddenly, Last Summer"?
"YOUNG MAN: Howard Djalikakik, sir."
What, was Heywood Jablome not available?
You keep trying to make Heywood Jablome happen. It's not going to happen.
“It’s pronounced ‘jablomé’.”
Sounds French, zha-BLO-may

I just pictured DeSantis in a diaper,
wearing white boots.
I'll need to hit that pipe pretty hard to get over that.
"B____ was askin' fer it" is always readily available.
Also learned, "Lesbians be groomers"
RUFO: [Raising a hand admonitorily] Now, now, we all support Israel.
That's the perfect addendum for every conservative to use after a public statement. "I hate the globalist elite, but I've got no beef with Israel."
They all turn on each other in the end, don't they? I just hope Rufo's time comes sooner rather than later.
I hate that smarmy mofo.
Are they that ready to dispose of their tools, so soon? Nobody thinks its the Night of the Long Knives, until all of a sudden, time is up, knives are out...

Weiss is pretty special. Hard to get someone so very very high on themselves for being anti-anti-anti-the-only-team-that-won't-eat-them-alive.
But with today's lowered standards (decadent left!) I'm sure they'll find someone wrapped in a slightly thinner bubble of smarmy self-righteousness
Hearted for all the antis.
I think it's like minus signs, you count them up and if you've got an odd number it's negative.
That's yer problem right there:
Too much negativity!
