Back in the 60s, when the world and I were young, publishing had a few simple and sure-fire novelties for separating barely-literate thrill-seekers such as myself from our cash, and one of the surest-firest was photo funnies — serious news photos, usually of political figures, festooned with word balloons containing copy that rendered them ridiculous.
