We're leaning toward a covid blood clot for him. But we're barbarians, after all. Smearing a nice guy like Rush for spending thirty years yelling "feminazis" at anyone who passed by.
You guys are probably tired of my pointing this out, but real-life conservatives are the living embodiment of the Matt Bors’ Nazi cartoon. It’s all our fault, *WE* were the ones who taught them the “groomer” slur would be effective because (checks notes) we quoted them accurately.
My big hope with this “groomer” bullshit, as well as with the actual Don’t Say Gay laws and the other laws being passed in some states that overtly outlaw abortion, is that the Right, in its rage-fueled insanity, will overreach. They tend to get high on their own supply and barrel forward thinking a majority of people agree with them. But although normies can be swayed by a well-crafted if dishonest message, most people do NOT in fact agree with them and when conservatives overreach the normies sharply draw back in disgust.
Also, when you fuck with Disney….well. Don’t mess with the Mouse, he’s a stone cold capitalist and will kill you before he’ll willingly lose a dollar.
I think in nine months or so when people realize if someone doesn't do a lot of work at those school board positions things go to shit pretty quickly. I doubt if your basic "no gay no gay " grifter has any kind of work ethic beyond relentless self promotion.
When the bus don't pick L'il Jared up for the third time in a month and Noreen has to stay home again and gets her second and last written warning down at the call center hopefully shit gets a little more real for the Common Clay. Else Jared ends up spending the day with MeeMaw who keeps nodding off with a lit cigarette in hand during Maury , which is ok because young Jared responded pretty well for a six year old to the fire safety lecture ( first call 911 and then point the fire extinguisher at MeeMaw and squeeze the trigger.)The only other choice is her second husband' s half brother Marc, who never seems to have a job or even much leaves the trailer. (Let the Grooming begin!) Best all around if the school board does it's job and the bus shows up.
By third Board meeting, they are going to begin to wonder when the secret discussions about brainwashing the kids start and why they are spending so much time talking about sewer problems at Swampgas Elementary.
But some of them might eat it up: Stalin, one of the worst people ever, and easily disconnected from reality, came to power partially due to his ability to stay awake and active no matter how long the meetings went or how many of them there were.
Nope. Alla them stopped in they tracks by boychild Jared pointing the fire extinguisher at MeeMaw, then half-bro Marc, then them Mishigander Milishers, then Gohmert/Greene/Gosar/Gaetz and squeezin' the trigger...thereby extinguishing them right proper.
They did the same thing with the term "fake news". It was trotted out to describe Dump's long, long trail of evidence for his casual relationship with reality. The next thing you know, Dump had incorporated it into his wankfest rallies, only this time directed at the "reality-based community"...
When you have to turn the knob all the way up to "Pedo" just to get a reaction, it's a sign the machine is breaking down.
My sunny, optimistic view is that we're seeing this pedo-panic stuff now because of the failure of "Socialist" to scare up enough votes in 2020. And that was a VERY good thing.
And "Socialist" was such an effective slur for decades, it made many a liberal politician cower in fear. All it took was ONE candidate with the guts to say, "Hell yeah, I'm a Socialist, and here's what that means..." and the whole thing collapsed like a house of cards.
What I've heard is the "pedo" label was very effective in helping sway public opinion towards Putin -- drumming up anti-queer hysteria as a way to discredit political opponents. It seems to have worked there...
Overreaching is essentially impossible. They spew this unhinged shit to solidify the base to elect the tools of their contributors, the Powers That Be. And as long as the tools do their jobs, the PTB don’t care what they say to the little people. Sorry.
Going forward, energy really needs to focused on the local level. The federal level will be lost soon, ditto many states.
Trumpism itself was an over-reach, in that they lost the House and then the Senate and the Presidency. Enough voters saw what Trumpism was, decided they didn't want it, and turned the country in a very different direction. Which is what happens when you over-reach.
Overreach is always a danger when you confine yourself in an information bubble. We're seeing a pretty horrific example of that in Putin's decision to invade Ukraine.
We're not out of the woods here with that -- with plenty of voters seeing what it all meant & still voting pro.
I agree that all thisn anti-queer, anti-trans, anti-abortion legislation might a desperate last attempt to stay relevant, but we are not going to know that until after 2024, maybe later.
It was clear you didn't get my joke -- so possibly recheck what it might mean in that context.
Focusing on the local level for once is vital, but we're way behind everywhere due to boomer liberal complacency. Losing any of those levels is not an option these days...
I’ve also been hung up on the idea of whether the label “liberal” actually had any meaning or was just a sloppy application or misuse of the word.
Too, I’m not sure maximum blame goes to the boomers, spoiled by the Greatest Generation and the post-WWII prosperity for which the GG deserves no credit or the Boomers’ kids who chose to believe that materialism was the only thing that matters. I mean, blame has to move with time. Doing nothing while waiting for the aged to act is a little silly.

I thought it was cute EE has braces. Like anybody really gives a fuck how his pork face looks.
* I initially wrote "perscription, perhaps subconsciously acknowledging the palliative nature of the daily REBID. I'll be honest, weekends are hard sometimes. I smoke extra weed to compensate.
Seems like just this past week that ol' Newt Gingrich was saying "Anybody who quotes what I said last weekend is a liar." But neither Newt nor Son of Erik have anything to worry about--the so-called liberal media goes to great lengths to avoid reporting on the crazy shit conservatives do and say.
“Liberal” media has little basis in, you know, any reporting since Tricky Dick’s resignation.
What is is just another right wing perversion of language if not full out lie like pro-life. They’ve actually been old school conservative and pro-GOP for over forty years.
Again need to point out: Erick is an unreconstructed Middle Georgia racist, who resigned a makework job as Macon City Councilman to go be a racist full time on air. He's a "Christian" like Robert E. Lee was a "Christian".
(Macon still thinks its 1983 and Reagan is still President. Best thing about it is that Atlanta is 85 miles northwest on I-75. )
I'm actually surprised Erick Ericksen, who twice called a Supreme Court Justice a goat fucking child molester, is not demanding credit for pioneering the pedos and groomers slur. I mean, it's been around forever, I first heard it in the seventies, but I don't expect him to be aware of that.
Whilst awaiting the second coming, so to speak, of Alex Cockburn's Press Clips, Boehlert was as good as one could get. Possibly -- probably? -- due to his nature as a human being, he was, for my taste, insufficiently cynical and for, whatever reason, wouldn't make the connection that the mainstream repeatedly, continually failed out of profit-oriented choice which is to say something of a moral failing. Reporters are presumed to be honest but what you can call Big Journalism's profit model was to spew bullshit which is to say they lie as part of the job. Of course, I, a non-professional, can of course be wrong on this but the pieces fit well.
As for Erick, Son of Erick and a 4H-winning sow -- he has his mother's face, no?? -- again: as a practical matter, there's no truly decent Republican and too few conservatives (or no meaningful influence) to matter. So, sure: sliming Boehlert. They roll on gratuitous hate if no other reason because that's what their audiences want. Which is to say my hate for them and what they do is a response to their acts, something of a normal reaction. Awful garbage for decades now. And they don't let up, they don't get better.
"...because Erickson is a stinking piece of shit." Which is to say he's no outlier there.
MJT is a piece of shit, but at least she's (probably) mentally ill. Erickson is just a straight forward piece of shit.
Boehlert was a good follow on Twitter, and he wrote one of my favorite obituaries of Al Weisel (Jonathan Swift) for Media Matters when Weisel passed 12 years ago. I'm glad we had both of them, even if it wasn't long enough.
This was excellent. Erickson's been a stinking piece of shit for so long.
I read his post on Herschel Walker after this one and it had this line: "Remember, 427,205 Republicans stayed home in January 2021 because they thought the race was going to be stolen."
Curious where he got such a specific number, I did a Google search and got a handful of hits. Surprise, all from Erick Erickson, who's been repeating it often, and a few more where he was quoted -- always with the bit about how they stayed home because they believed it was going to be stolen. Thing is, if you add up all the Republican votes in the General election for Senator in Georgia, and subtract the Republican vote in the Runoff, you get less than half Erickson's number. (Same if you subtract it from Trump's tally.) On top of that, Democrats saw an almost identical drop in turnout from the General to the Runoff, and I doubt it was because they thought the race was going to be stolen by Democrats. I'm beginning to suspect he pulled the number out of his nether bifurcation. You can never, ever, trust them when it comes to data of any kind.
Thanks, as a math teacher I always love seeing math used for real-world practical stuff, but I do want to point out that your debunking of Erickson's number took about a hundred times as much work as Erickson put into pulling it out of his ass in the first place. Kind of a built-in advantage for their team but I don't want to discourage your efforts.
Obama at the White House with the helpful advice that we should pass stuff, even if it's not "perfect". Like the barrier to passage of Build Back Better was progressives who didn't think it went far enough, rather than the one conservative who thought it went too far. Maybe I'm being unfair and reading in an attack that wasn't meant, but it's been a long time dealing with Democratic Centrists and my nerves are raw.
For reasons I cannot fathom, the name "Peter Griffin" comes to mind whenever I see a picture of "Ham Face". How does that saying go? "Art imitates life" or is it "life imitates art"?

Roy, thanks for your defense of Mr Boehlert and for putting Erickson in his place. He really is an even more loathsome, less talented piece of shit than Jonah, isn’t he? It seems impossible, but…
That moist slab of pink mystery meat lies about literally everything! I know this is a minor point in the crap Ham Face spewed but I wore the "braces" he whines about. I finished my rounds of Invisalign over a year ago and now just wear the retainer (at least 10 hours a day). The aligners are plastic and are not sharp. Seems silly to have to point it out but they will not make you say something you didn't intend to say. I noticed a slight sibilance when I spoke, nothing more. What a grotesque specimen of humanity he is.
I'm fairly sure Bohlert didn't celebrate the deaths of people from AIDS, or defend Oliver North's perjury before Congress, or say "axe" instead of "ask" when referring to Blacks, or just outright make stuff up when it was convenient. But do go on, Mr. Erickson.
"They would take audio or video of conservative talkers and use the snippets, excerpts, and often out-of-context clips to vilify their partisan opponents."
I'm sorry, what was the all-important "context" that was left out? That the speaker was a horrible piece of shit and so nothing better could be expected of them?
Let's be fair, there are days when the liberals forget to say something mean about you, and then you need to imagine they might could maybe say something mean about you TOMORROW to make up for it.
I'd be proud if my relentless Marxism somehow hurt his tongue but I'm pretty sure I wasn't even thinking about him.

Nice
If it doesn't involve the catastrophic loss of control over his bowels while on-air, I will be VERY disappointed.
Well, if it comes to pass, thank yer stars that Hans Laube's crowning achievement Smell-o-Vision failed in the market of ideas.
Edit to add: But what a potential hoot it would be to read Roy's review of "Scent of Mystery" as smelt in a Smell-o-Vision kitted-out theater!

2 marks for the short novel L'il Jared Saves the Day.

Well fair enough, but waiting for the aged to die has a modicum of frisson...and at any rate, dying is apparently the only useful act MAGAs do.

Yeah. 2 marks for that wattle-y phrase.
I think that “shaking his wattles *at*” is the money phrase: turns the act of wattle-shaking into a disgustingly hilarious image of impotent flabbery.
That’s ‘cause it’s hard to both-sides despicable utterances.
They're reduced to amplifying every time Biden or Harris mis-speak, as if nobody remembers the last four years of President Word Salad.
Let's not forget Spicy Pizza-Gate, the Worst Scandal Ever:

That’s the problem with truth-based facts.

Good to know that even Hamface’s orthodontist thinks he’s a noncompliant incompetent.
Only his orthodontist (and everyone else) knows for sure...

There once was a shithead from Macon
Whose skin-tone matched that of bacon...
His prescriptions were daft
And all his docs laughed
Tryna figure out what he was takin'
He straightened his teeth
And his sibilants ceathed
Now libruls in ther boots they're a quakin'
His Inviline's recedin'
So now he's proceedin'
That sweet grifty cash for to rake in
These are all awesome, but now I think "With a face like a rasher of bacon" would have worked better for the second line. I am but a mere amateur.
'rasher of bacon' always makes me think (somewhat disturbingly) of ointment...a term that has sprouted twice in my head today...
I blame Roy, his cohort, and maybe somebody's parents, for, well, you know...
Second best. The first best is that Little Richard was from Macon.
Emphasis on "From". As in "Got the hell out."
Yeah, but still...

do you really expect the son of Erik to be aware of much of anything
Erik Erikson isn't even his whole name: it's actually Erik Erikson Eriksonsson. Weird huh?
As long as it is nor Erik Eriksondottir his audience will be happy
