I read that bit about Paul Ryan on the train yesterday and actually LOL’d. So happy the former Speaker of the House of Representatives FINALLY has some power – as we all know, while in his previous role he was Constitutionally constrained from taking any action beyond expressing concern that the Executive’s behavior was “worrisome” and “troubling.”

Paul Ryan still expects to be President someday, and has calculated that it's better to be seen taking Australian/Red Chinese money than to be seen taking Russian money (not that he'd turn down any money from anywhere of course).

"This morning on All Things Considered, we take a close look at the Democrats' decision to begin impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump. Joining me to help explain all of this, Jonah Goldberg and David Brooks. David, you've written that this is political suicide for the Democrats. Isn't this actually worse than suicide for them? . . ."

Our so-called liberal media.

Meanwhile, I've seen 3 polls which all show approval for impeachment on the rise over the past couple of days. So who are you gonna believe, the lying liberal media, or ..... wait, never mind.

Fair enough, but what fraction of those approving think that impeachment would remove Trump?

Most people are not stupid about the things that immediately concern their daily lives but can be staggeringly ignorant about things that don't, no matter how important (how many people think that Sec. Clinton's e-mail servers were hacked? how many people understand climate change?); impeachment v. conviction is one of those things.

(Also, I'm reminded of Herb Caen's East Coast three-dot counterpart, Jimmy Cannon: https://www.kirkusreviews.com/book-reviews/jack-tom-cannon-eds-cannon/nobody-asked-me-but-the-world-of-jimmy-cannon/)
