Was Andrew Sullivan a consultant in the drafting of this new curriculum?

New Texas state motto: “A Caliper in Every Classroom.”

As someone at LGM pointed out yesterday, Texas is the only political entity to secede TWICE in order to allow its White citizens to own Black people as chattel slaves. Texas broke off from Mexico when Mexico outlawed slavery, and sided with the treason states when it looked like America was heading the same way.

But take comfort in the fact that Texas, lead by ignorant and aggressive yahoos, selects the textbooks that the majority of American students use in school.

A lot of people complain about New Yorkers begin arrogant and obnoxious but I think Texans are worse. New York can at least back up it's braggadocious-ness. Texas is where it is at because of oil. Without it they are just a collection of the worse traits of Mississippi, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.

"In America you get food to eat

Won't have to run through the jungle

And scuff up your feet

You just sing about Jesus and drink wine all day

It's great to be an American"

Does anything sum up America better in the 2020s than scare quotes around "murder" as it relates to George Floyd?

Probably not.

If RWers wanted to press the Palestinian/AfAm analogy as an excuse of/justification for oppression, apartheid, & brutality, they could probably get most centrist Libs to sign off on it. If they haven't already, that is...

Man, I'm really losing it with advanced age. I cannot tell whether this is a parody or not.

I'm leaning to an actual document because I don't believe what with the day job, Roy possibly had the time to write something this detailed.

Why did Texas join the Union in the first place? Extra points if you answered "bankrupt".

For this excellent work, you will be taken in the wee hours and indentured into a teaching position. Assume the position! Teach them kids something!

What ever will they teach the black students? Or will they all be expelled, imprisoned or “segregated” for educational heresy?

"So-called Slavery" indeed: >>Tim Sutton, another commissioner at the time, declared his pride in his Confederate heritage. “I am not ashamed of my great-grandfather,” he said. “He did what he did. It is my understanding that when he died, from Sarah, my grandmother, that some guys on the farm, you can call them slaves if you want to, but I would just call them workers, that they raised a good bit of my family. When the time came, my great-grandmother gave them land. I am not going to be a part of an assault on logic, an assault on the history of this country and the heritage of this area and this country. Not going to do it.”<< https://www.propublica.org/article/small-town-battle-for-racial-justice-confronts-bloody-past-uncertain-future

Brilliant. It's satire, right?

Shorter Texas Legislature, and new daily oral exercise: "White men are the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human beings I'll ever know in my life."

Periodic reminder that the holiday known as "Juneteenth" was first celebrated in Texas. http://juneteenth.com/history.htm

This is erasure, and is intentional.

"In May 2016, the Texas GOP narrowly rejected bringing a resolution for secession to a floor vote at the 2016 Texas Republican Convention."

Imagine how much better the country would be if Texas seceded in 2016, or better yet, during the Republic of Texas years in the 90s.

You seem to suggest a distinction between communists and folk singers. Surely that was just a slip on your part.
