“R(u)FK'ing Kidding Me” is first-rate and started my day with a smile.

Another excellent defenestration of the prestige media, not to mention the NR rat-fuckers, from Roy. Few things have puzzled me more than serious media outlets taking the charisma-deficient weirdo DeSantis seriously. But one of few things that did was anyone in the serious press looking at RFK, Jr. without envisioning him in an invisible tinfoil hat. But anything for clicks, I guess.

Only 476 days til election day, gotta fill a 24-hour news cycle somehow. My favorite is MSNBC paying former Republicans to go on the air and give helpful advice to Ron DeSantis about how he can revive his flagging campaign.

Expand full comment

A bazillion takes on DeSantis -- his new vision, his bold stances, his wife (she has enough charisma for the both of them!) -- yet not a single piece revealing the obvious: he's a replicant.

Expand full comment

If he is, he's no Rutger Hauer.

Expand full comment

DeSantis represents the replicant model that was designed for thoughtless bureaucratic tasks -- such as a DMV clerk or counting how many torture sessions it takes to transform a full-grown adult prisoner into a haunted shell of a human...

I hafta say, the claim that the COVID virus is actually a bioweapon designed to attack "Caucasians and black people" but harmless against "Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese" was not on my bingo card. At this point, I really think you could make up anything at all about the COVID virus or vaccine and get a large quantity of MAGATs and such to believe it. "The virus deliberately causes black people to lose their sense of rhythm and makes Caucasian children to want to go to Clown College". "COVID vaccines not only make your body magnetic but also radioactive, and months or years down the line you will find yourself fighting off a spider with a sewing needle." And then, in Florida, Republican County Executive Committees will vote to completely ban the COVID-19 vaccine, calling it a "biological weapon." Oh wait, they did that already.

I'll admit I don't see any even vaguely coherent through-line running from anti-vaxxers to racists/antisemites other than they both feed at the same rightwing media (and Russian disinformation) trough. The msm need for a horse race election will be the death of us. But the msm’s inability to absorb facts in order to report on the accuracy of candidates’ statements is where they fail us. I used to think they willfully refused to call out lies and bullshit because they were afraid of offending someone (bosses? advertisers?) but now I think they have the same aversion to mastering difficult topics that the Supreme Clowns have. Also, I suspect that it's part of the general shrinkage of real reporting as the print media business fades. Even the big papers don't seem to have dedicated science reporters to contribute to the general news - science and health news are sequestered on their own pages while the headlines are about the "controversy" over the most recent folderol promoted by the fringe. The thought is there is a "large" group of centrists/moderate Republicans that voted for Biden in 2020, but don't like his economic policies favoring the less well off. They also hate Trump but would possibly vote No Labels or RFK, Jr. Now there may be some 2020 Trump voters that don't like the loser stench.
