Well you could also have watched the Steve King interview where he had a reporter thrown out for asking a question and the rest of them just sat there like good little boys and girls. There is absolutely no hope that these people are going to get any better.

Some investigative reporters are OK, but the ones who yell questions are, I was about to say completely useless, but I realize they have great uses for the class that rules this country.

He wasn't a reporter. He's a citizen who belongs to a group called Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement. According to The Google they "believe in putting people first. People before Politics, People before Profits, People before polluters". They work against factory farms which is a big deal here in Iowa.

That guy's question was exactly what was needed. And the press act like they have something to gain from fascism. "I know there's an upside. I just have to be beaten into realizing it. Any blow now I'll be set!"

Not to derail the thread, just to rail at journalists: This speaks to something I see in BBC News coverage of anything political. They seem to be running scared of the Tories (their long-standing threat to abolish the licence fee) and the BBC's coverage of Brexit/Indyref2 etc has been/is risible. There is great work being done but if it is not disseminated to people (or only disseminated through the narrowest of prisms) then where does that leave the fourth estate?

The problem, of course, is that modern media cannot distinguish between balance and objectivity. Balance leads to "Shape of Earth: Views Differ" articles; objectivity leads to either ignoring the flat-Earth people or pointing out that, no, the Earth is a sphere.----------------but 4 decades of conservatives screaming "LIBERAL BIAS!!!111!!! every time someone points out that the Earth is a sphere has lead us to stories that are balanced but not objective. Thus does the public become ever more ill-informed.
