Absolutely incredible. Hawley is a millionaire, he went to elite schools, as a Senator he has one of the most powerful jobs in the country, he has a book about to be published, and now he has written a guest opinion in the NY Post about being ….. muzzled?

How does he do it, how does he walk among us without wearing a paper bag over his head, you may ask. His secret superpower is his complete inability to feel shame.

I really love the take “they might bear in mind that they were the bitter dissenters of the Sixties and Seventies.” When you have to reach back half a century or more to make your whataboutist comparison, you've already lost.

Oh Bari Weiss, such a precious pancake -- if she knew what CRT was she would know that it would actaully make the world safer for her as a Jewish person. But it would also prevent her from weaponizing her identity as it suited her.

BW just can’t shut up about the NYT, can she?

(Comes down to this: the idea that the American people rejected them and their ideas, decisively, has driven them to treason, sedition, and murder. )

Joe needs to read Roy - or a more formal intelligence* agency briefing - to be reminded that Republicans and the oligarchic media still reject his administration as illegitimate. It isn’t just the crude “election stolen” horsepucky, it’s the perennial “Dems aren’t leaders, only Republican fascists are.” Go bold or be buried by the wave of bullshit coming his way.

*I refer, of course, to the nonexistent agency of fact and knowledge, not our bumbling, intrusive spy nests.

Safe bet that Old Joe will do minimal good national security-wise and be far too kind to Wall Street because his job -- well, the job of nearly all our elected officials -- is to treat the power that be nicely and respectfully.

That said, Old Joe, inside a week, has already done more good for the nation than his predecessor's shit show of a tragic farce of an administration and, but for the ACA, maybe even more good than Obama. Bonus, too, for so the relative dearth of honky men getting appointments. Those are very important optics for the long run. More than policy decisions (almost?), they send a great message. And speaking of Obama, I suspect (or hope) Biden will run out of patience with the GOP much faster than Obama did, and more vocally.

And then there's Jen Psaki (*swoon*). And here I thought solid competence was extinct. Can't wait till she seriously has to stonewall; it's inevitable.

As for the scumbags described in the post:

I know I'd kick in a couple of bucks to a defense fund were Rand Paul's neighbor try much harder, if you know what I mean. (Selling his house to someone who would do the right thing would work as well.)

Megyn Kelly is beneath content but her desperate efforts to regain her prior level of prominence, of fame and fortune.

As for Bari Weiss, every time I see the name, I want to know what Kate McKinnon saw in her and got out of the relationship. Me, I think anyone who could spew the shit Weiss does and has built her career on, has to have something wrong.

And, sorry to say, I'm with Newt on the AOC assignation thing. I think it's some Antifa thing. An actual MAGAt or Qster would threaten gangrape and then assassination. Sloppy, Antifa!

Speaking of Q, maybe they should reach out for insight to Lindsey Graham who I'm sure knows nothing but likely knows people who know or know others if you know what I mean. (It's not Lindsey's proclivity or preferences that I have issue with; it's the hypocrisy and worse.)

I just love that every time Rand Paul comes home he has to worry about his neighbor coming over and beating his ass.

Joe doesn't seem to give to awful much of a fuck what anybody says - he just goes right ahead working the plan he and his team have come up with. Like an adult.

I like it. Not for the same reasons as the white supremacists but still, it's catchy.

Not that I need a safari about it, but I have noticed an increase in the number of cray cray Democratic leaning political spam ads in my inbox in the past few years. So that's one more thing we can thank the Republican industrial grievance complex for creating: a market for madness

First full week of my Weaponized Nostalgia class: on the plate -- early Christian appropriations & erasures of Jewish identity as an enabler of antisemtism, which comes to a head in Israeli flags (flown by USian gentiles) next to Nazi & QAnon flags (flown by fascist ass-pucks) on January 6th.

Yeah, I'm still bitter about the murder of the Black Panthers, Malcolm X, MLK Jr, two Kennedys a lot of Civil Rights workers, 70,000 mostly drafted GIs, a hobuncha Cambodians and a million Vietnamese.

That's what must be causing my allergy to Nazis trying to kidnap and rape governors while lynching anyone in Congress who doesn't meet their purity test. I break out in hives of murder hornets.

The US media is the biggest threat to US democracy. I've suggested remedial action here and at Media Matters (3 times) but nobody seems to be interested. Still, again, here's how it's done :

The horrors of having restrictions on who can get security clearance! Rules of any kind simply infringe on freedom! If you do something I don't like, you are divisive! And these rubes fall for it. Which is a good thing. They used to have clever sophistry in their slogans and rallying cries. Now, this sad stuff. It actually works to laugh as a first response because everyone else sees how funny it is without much thinking. Except Republicans because they don't think ever.

I repeat myself, but: the Right have had galloping 'Sixties Envy ever since they (to borrow from Gilbert Shelton) drooled over them big-tittied hippie chicks and weren't invited to the _fun_ parties.
