"When someone tells you who they are, believe them--the *first* time."

Did dude go straight to "trans people are child molesters"? Yes. Yes he did.

Lunatic.

Ugh, you’re right. Fixed in the archive, along with the subject-verb agreement in the first sentence. (Too late for you guys but it’s history I’m thinking of.)

Of course he did. It's part of a mandated pairing with the bathrooms/locker rooms thing.

Now, I will admit that I find the bathrooms/locker rooms argument quite compelling. But not in the way conservatives intend it to be. What that argument says to me is that conservatives would eagerly barge into the ladies' room to leer at women; that they would be overjoyed at the opportunity to stroll into the ladies' locker room so they can jerk off while watching women shower or change clothes.

In sum, the argument that only current social approbation keeps people from doing these things tells me that conservatives are perverts with no concept of anyone else's personal space.

Personal space and consent are both foreign concepts to conservatives.

The “trans bathroom issue” (or “Potty Bill” as a local blogger derides it) surfaced yet again in this year’s SD legislature. They can’t deal with the nursing home crisis or budget issues, but there’s always time for sordid fantasies.

When they rage and wail about “letting everyone use the same bathroom,” my response is, “You mean like we do at home?”

They're VERY worried at the moment about the whole bathroom issue.

I'd be glad to think the conservatives have let up on LGBTQ, but with my (as I've said elsewhere) ill-named SmartNews app I can see at least one, usually more, anti-trans article daily from such luminaries as TheBlaze and The Pluralist, and, yes, even the occasional National Review. Seems like they're farming the subject out right now at "simmer", running it up the flagpole and seeing how it plays to the rubes before going all-out pro-stupid later on.

Hillard makes me think of those right-wingers who, in times of Islamic Panic, claim that they're trying to protect LGBTQ people from the murderous (non-Christian) theocratic hordes--while also chuckling over bon mots on the order of "Bruce Gender is a confused woMAN" (direct quote, capitalization and all). Do the Hillards of this world think no one will notice them insulting the very people they're trying to be reasonable about, or do they just not care?

You expose the pathetic ploys of straw men, hypothetical, and false equivalence, and do so with humor! I love this in your writing generally. Here it is like a how-to video. It reminds me a little of Tom Tomorrow. Kudos.
