"They forgot what country they represent" is what Republicans were saying about the Kennedy brothers because John and Bobby Kennedy were Catholics. You know who REALLY has forgotten which country they represent? All those Republican congressmen who went to Moscow to celebrate the Fourth of July, and all those Republican senators who blocked Democratic efforts to continue the sanctions against Oleg Deripaska.

As for the new fashion of fascists calling those who do not like fascists "anti-semites," just last week a Jewish friend of mine was called an anti-semite by one of our conservative friends. Seems my Jewish friend was bemoaning Jared Kushner's lack of progress in bringing peace to the Middle East, which our conservative friend took as a sign of insufficient fealty to Trump. And as we know, not loving Donald Trump means you must hate the Jews. Or something.

It's the same old story. To people like this, "supporting Israel" means total and unqualified advocacy of Israel wiping Palestine off the face of the Earth. And if you express hope for a peaceful solution, you're naïve at best and an enabler of another Holocaust at worst. At least your friend didn't get called a "kapo"--that would have been despicable.

It may well be that the only reason he wasn't called a kapo is because our conservative friend doesn't know that word or what it might mean.

A couple years ago, this same conservative called me "a self-loathing Jew." When I pointed out that I wasn't Jewish, he said that didn't matter. Reasoning--how does that work??

Yikes. Sounds like conservatism is the least of his issues.

Reminds me of when Kurt Schlichter said that any Jew who supported Obama and Kerry's Israel settlement speech "would have made a fine helper at Auschwitz." He actually got the Holocaust Museum to come after him for that one. Classic self-own.

I jotted down a list of Prager's dreaded "Left Wing Jews." Here goes: Marx --> Trotsky --> Jewish former Oxford professor --> Chomsky --> ACLU --> Democratic Party --> the Pope --> Dana Milbank --> George "malevolent force" Soros --> the Rosenbergs --> the Anti-Defamation League. It's as if Prager ripped off his skull cap and tossed the contents of his last fever dream onto the page.

The Pope? Funny, he don't look Jewish.

Poor conservatives... they go all "globalist conspiracy" with the right hand, pro-Netanyahu fascism with the left.

"By any means necessary" an apt title for this post. The Party of Ideas actually ran out of ideas at least 40 years ago and even then their main ideas were, at best, lafferable. Since then, they've been the Party of Hate and Destruction (to use Trumpian caps). They seem not to realize (or care) that their uber-capitalist overlords simply don't care about the long-term viability of the country so long as they can cream off more and more of the economic pie. As I've said before, Trump is merely the apotheosis of this corrupt, degraded and ignorant party.

My guess is that the oligarchs will start caring about the long-term viability of the country as soon as it begins to dawn on them that being surrounded by angry poor people is not a good thing.

Retreat abroad and to little keeps all over the place---and avoiding all unhappy-making media feeds---will delay that dawning a long, long time.

What about all the Israeli Jews who oppose Netanyahu? Are they self-hating Jews too?
