That comment caused me to laugh all the way to the bank, which isn't that far in these days of cancel culture online banking. (Hint: you can no longer look down That Teller's cleavage, so just open another window onto one of Them Sites while you 'check your balance'.)

You need a better bank. Might I suggest First Seaman's Bank? Cooperative tellers are always ready to handle your deposit slip, and they definitely show you interest on your accounts.

Wells-Fargo shows interest in your accounts, especially the ones they made for you without your consent

So I’m reading and wondering: a post like this, how much is original writing and how much is Roy copying and pasting from some of that vile brain warping poison he exposes himself to.

And is my wont to give he wing nuts a scintilla of sobriety and give their idiocy credibility, if one is listing America’s awesome accomplishments one would think the end of racism would rank as one as proof that we’re not a racist nation at all.

Expand full comment

We've never been a racist nation. Slavery was just an unfortunate example of its historical time, but everybody meant well.

It was a program that guaranteed Black Americans 100% lifetime employment. People should expect a few sacrifices for a deal like that.

Expand full comment

Racism was just an unfortunate, short-sighted distraction from our True National Mission to see _all_ human beings as totally depraved sinners in the hand of an angry G-d, _none_ of us worth any respect or consideration.

I'll be honest, I blame * the Jazz cigarettes more than the Rock and Roll music for my

In retrospect, it was a great choice which I've never regretted.

I was lucky enough to see Liberace on his last Midwest tour. The arena was filled with people the age I am now - my date and I were probably the youngest there by 30 years. It was a great show, he really knew how to work a crowd. The staging didn’t allow him to drive on in his limo but everything else - the white piano, the candelabra, the capes - was just like the Liberace my Grammie watched each week instead of “Gunsmoke.” Amazing.

We went back to the same arena the next week and saw ZZ Top. No doubt the only two in the audience who were at both shows.

And Critical Race Theory is just this year's Cancel Culture, which was the new Political Correctness, which was the update on Liberal Media Bias: all things that aren't the boogyman the Rightosphere makes 'em..

There are SO MANY OTHER BILLS pertaining to the injustices, worries, and other shit I and all other Black Americans have to endure every fucking day of our lives that should be passed.

“See what we did for you? Now stop complaining that we don’t do anything for you. You HAD A BLACK PRESIDENT, REMEMBER!”

This country is beyond fucking ridiculous, in so many ways.🙄😐😑

Personally, I'm all for Liberaace Day. Why not celebrate a flamboyantly gay performer? My mother-in-law loved him, or so I'm told.

I suggest we all write our reps in sincerity, using the style of our esteemed author above, even borrowing some of his very words to request just that, a day for us to celebrate "Lee" and his beautiful all-American heart, and strange disgust with toilets.

Meanwhile, when is Tom “Old Fields” Cotton going to propose Simon Legree Days? (January 1 to June 18 and June 20 to December 31)

"cancel race critical woke culture theory mob Democrat days" is a work of art. Reminds me of the genius scene in Easter Parade where the fabulous Jules Munshin as the waiter makes an imaginary salad, "Mix, mix, toss, toss." Only you did it with words.

Also you may need a link to explain "Ebonics" for some of the younger folk. What a shitshow that was.

As Sen. Cornyn of Texas said yesterday, the designation of Juneteenth as a national holiday is "a purely symbolic gesture". And with that he turned back to supporting vote suppression and disenfranchisement, especially for POC, voting against police reform and so forth. A Juneteenth holiday is arguably long overdue but it won't change a single R voter or Congress critter's attitudes and practices towards POC.

Expand full comment

"Purely symbolic gesture" made necessary by the *fact* that Texas, his home state, was the last in the Union to have its slaves freed. Which is what he'd like you to forget (along with Smith v. Allwright, while he's on the subject of disenfranchisement).

Waiting 150+ years to recognize Juneteenth officially is so bloody appropriate to the meaning of the holiday in the first place...
