When you get them all together in a room like that you can really understand that America is truly the land of opportunity. In America, any worthless piece of shit can become rich and famous without a lot of hard work.

Dr. Faustus might disagree with the idea that giving away your soul doesn’t entail hard work.

Alex Jones is like the distilled, highest potency incarnation of MAGA: I’m going to lie about your children being murdered, sic my fans on you to harass you for years, and then whine when I face consequences for my actions.

LOL at Tulsi Gabbard. When she announced she was leaving the Democratic Party, I felt as puzzled as I did when Andrew Yang left to create his “new” political party: you were ever a Democrat? It’s sort of like if I stuck my hand inside my shirt and called myself Napoleon: I wouldn’t expect anyone to really buy it, and when I declared, “OK, I’m not Napoleon anymore” I wouldn’t expect anyone to do more than roll their eyes and shrug.

Jones... Last I recall -- and we know how crappy my ability to recall is -- InfoWars is under the control of a bankruptcy court. If so, that can be a long term problem for Jones. OTOH, no doubt if these Sandy Hook cases somehow reach SCOTUS, the GOP junta there will rule that the suits violated Jones' 1A rights so who knows.

Now that's a "Scene We'd Like to See".

Note Jones plowed his poisoned seed in a well prepared field: the paranoid gun humpers had been claiming "false flag" for mass shootings for years. Either the government/Dark Agenda/Hillary had ordered a program of using the brainwashed to actually kill people (because we *know* responsible American Gun owners never misuse their arms) to create an anti gun climate, or Sandy Hook was faked.

It synced with the whole "They hate us and want us weak: so we need the biggest guns to shoot Them", who as Roy has frequently noted, were generally of color, and urban.

He said in the trial he was afraid gun owners would be blamed for Sandy Hook, et. all, and he wanted to protect their rights, so he questioned, and loosed his flying monkeys on the parents and law enforcement.

The twitter machine informs me he was on Infowars last PM saying he would never pay a cent.

They just use their guns to defend themselves!

Of course, "defending" entails shooting ethnic folks, Democrats, Antifa, protesters, liberals, socialists, immigrants, government agents, and government officials, but MAH FREEDUMS!

Expand full comment

It is interesting that SCOTUS just ruled a defendant had no right to a new trial bc of incompetent counsel... bc that seems to have been Jones' intended ploy. What competent attorney would allow his client to go on media & defame the judge in hs own trial -- much less contunue to make statements that just show a will to re-offend?

Expand full comment

Fortunately, the right to counsel isn’t applicable to civil cases. Unless, of course, SCOTUS embraces yet another novel legal theory like “the Sovereign Dignitude of the Several States (h/t Scott LeMieux)” to gut the VRA, or the chicken they’re fucking to vitiate delegation of power to the executive, to suddenly discover that wait! the Constitution DOES afford the right to effective counsel in civil cases!

This makes me wonder what happens when Dominion Voting Systems takes possession of Fox News. Do they run the business as a going concern, in which case they become the problem themselves, or do they liquidate? I think FNC has enough money to pay the judgment, if it is so ordered, entered and docketed onto the judgment rolls, without filing any petition for relief under the bankruptcy code. Even a billion-dollar judgment wouldn’t necessarily render it insolvent. It’s likely Fox and Dominion would settle on amount to pay and satisfy the judgment. And a receivership, where the judgment creditor takes control and possession of the judgment debtor’s assets, isn’t inevitable.

Sidney Powell and her pathetic, obsequious, co-defendants who don’t have deep pockets are going to go through some things (h/t TFG).
