This is exactly why the stories about how “Trump is outraising all the Dems” that pop up every few months around reporting time don’t worry me. The vast majority of that cash is being siphoned off by Trump, his cronies/family and the usual assortment of GOP hangers-on. I have to admit that while I don’t want to give money to him or the GOP grifters, I am *sorely* tempted by that chess set with Trump as the king and Mike Pence as the queen.

Hell, just Democrats *breathing* is an excuse for Republicans to raise money. A Democrat sneezing becomes an appeal for funds to "stop (him/her, unnamed, obscure Democrat) unleashing his (her) terrorist spittle on America!!!!!!!!"

Loomer can get Jacob Wohl to manage her campaign.

Just as an aside, if Wohl wasn’t a white guy he would absolutely be in jail right now. He is so likely to step too far over the line any day that I imagine at least one federal prison has named a cell the Jacob Wohl Suite.

Nowhere, apart from ancient Rome has personified Shakespeare's “If money go before, all ways do lie open.” than the modern US.

Bilking one's own campaign is pretty much expected in conservative circles. The assembled masses eagerly fork over their hard-earned dollars knowing full well that the vast bulk of what they're giving will never get anywhere near the cause or campaign they're supporting.

And they LOVE that they're being ripped off. They really do. When you point out Trump's stealing from his campaign as an example, you get a wry smile in return because the person you're speaking to knows how Trump's dishonesty owns the Libs. Talk to them about Michael Steele nearly bankrupting the RNC, and you'll get the same smile, but dusted with a touch of "what do you expect from a Black guy?"

So they rush to buy gold and survival supplies and guns and vitamin water and whatever other bullshit the "real" websites are selling. They know they're getting ripped off. And they love it.

But *why* do they love it?

Is "Twitchy"still a thing? Or was it "Spastic?" I forget. Probably on purpose.

Laura Loomer gives me hope for the future. One of the Bright Lights of Tomorrows Republican Party is someone who got voted " Most Likely to Poison Themselves by Eating Outdated Vienna Sausage" in her graduating class.

Say what you will about Gym Jordan - You can trust him not to rat you out.

I live just south of his district and I got to say, he is very representative of the place.

It's that fucked up.

Does anyone there own a sports coat or suit jacket, or is "sweaty middle school vice principal" the default fashion?

True fact: Every home in Urbana Ohio has a white ruled 3 by 5 index card with carefully printed directions to removing Cream of Mushroom Soup stains from polyester on the refrigerator door. It is held there by a magnet in the shape of cross with the words "Praise Him " in a faux Holy Roman Empire style script referred to in the font book as"Christian Soldiers. Everyone who lives in these houses Is constipated from either their opioid addiction or all the Process cheese food product they consume.

I'm also fascinated with the way the Trump campaign and administration has led to an influx of grifters, faux-intellectuals, televangelists, sadists, abusers, addicts, and perverts coming out of the woodwork to get a piece of the action, whether it be through any number of channels in the pro-Trump media apparatus or in the government itself. How many Trump associates do we know to beat women? How many have committed sexual assault or worse? How many are in prison for one reason or another? This all peaked for me when Steve Bannon tried to buy that castle in Italy to set up some sort of alt-right academy. That was the moment the film "Salo" was recontextualized for me from the abstract to the literal. I did not anticipate that turn.

I'll upvote the hell out of a Pasolini reference. Always.

That Bannon Italian job reminded me more of the Night of the Long Knives scene in The Damned.

Years back Kim Newman wrote "Anno Dracula", in which ol' Vlad 'wasnʼt derailed in his attempt to take over the British Empire by an affair with the wife of a rural solicitor'. After marrying Victoria and taking charge, every Count No-count strega, vrudolak, and blutsafter we know from endless cheap flicks flocks to London….

(Newman wrote it c.1990; two years back, referencing Dracula's ascendancy, a character muses 'Everyone remembers where they were when they found out that the worst person in the world had become its most powerful.')

To fleece them is to love them. Carnies, conmen, snake oil salesmen, fly-by-night grifters - pseudoconservatives are the best 1880's cosplay ever.

It works backward[s], too: to be fleeced by them is to make them bigger winners. You'll stay a loser regardless, but this way you contribute to the existence of a Winner.
